ON THE TRACK
Aaron Kim is the current high jump coach at Palo Alto High School, where he designs and leads technical training sessions focused on event-specific skill development, approach consistency, and competition readiness. He also works with athletes ranging from middle school through the collegiate level, tailoring instruction to each stage of development, whether it's foundational movement patterns or advanced technical refinement. His workout plans pull directly from his own training and experience within 2 high-major NCAA Division I programs.
As a senior at Paly, Aaron became the sixth athlete in CCS history to break the 7-foot barrier on his way to winning the 2021 section title. He went on to compete at UCLA, where as a freshman he won silver at the 2022 USATF U20 Outdoor Championships. Transferring to the University of Miami after his sophomore season, he eventually capped off his collegiate career winning gold at the 2025 Outdoor ACC Championships where he jumped 7’1¾ (2.18m), the second highest jump in outdoor program history. He graduated in 2025 and has since improved his personal best to 7’3¾” (2.23m).
Aaron offers private coaching, group training, training plans, and virtual consultations starting at $125/hr. All ages/skill levels welcome! Book a session: aaronbkim07@gmail.com
“My job as a coach is to provide athletes with a deep understanding of the event in all of its technical components. I pride myself as a technician. But high jump is unique in that while demanding physical ability, it's not always the most physically gifted that win. Why is that? Because it's above all a mental feat. To succeed as a high jumper, you must maintain an unwavering belief in yourself. I work relentlessly with my athletes on building confidence, on being able to SEE themselves clear bars before even taking a jump. That confidence will follow them off the track.”
